PATRON BEHAVIOR POLICY
The Board of Trustees of the Northborough Free Library has established the following Patron Behavior Policy so that we may protect our patrons right of access to and use of library facilities to the maximum extent possible. Also we wish to insure the safety of our patrons and staff as well as safeguard our resources and facilities from damage.
The following activities are not allowed in the library:
1. Eating, drinking or use of illegal drugs;
2. Smoking;
3. Possession of weapons unless authorized by law;
4. Playing of audio equipment so that others can hear;
5. Bringing animals into the library except those needed to assist a patron with a disability;
6. Misuse of restroom: i.e., using as a laundry or washing facility;
7. Leaving a child under the age of 12 unattended in the library;
8. Talking loudly, making noise, or engaging in other disruptive conduct;
9. Interfering with another persons use of the library or with library personnels performance of their duties;
10. Verbal harassment, physical molestation or assault of patrons or staff;
11. Destruction or theft of library or personal property of patrons and staff;
12. Offensive sexual or other behavior, such as peeping, exhibitionism, child molestation, or speaking to a patron or staff member in an obscene or offensive manner;
13. Unauthorized taking of videos or pictures of any person in the library;
14. Any activities that violate local, state, or federal laws.
Any patron who violates this Policy may be denied the privilege of access to the Library by the Board of Trustees, on recommendation of the Library Director. Any patron whose privileges have been denied may have the decision reviewed by the Board of Trustees
