Welcome to the Northborough Free Library!

The holder of a Northborough Free Library card agrees to abide by the following rules:

1.    Patrons are requested to present some sort of identification when applying for a library card.  Replacement cards cost $5.00.  Please notify the library of any changes of address, phone number, or email address.

2.    You must have your library card with you in order to check out library materials.  You are responsible for all items checked out on your card.  Please do not lend your card!

3.    Books and most other library materials are loaned for three weeks.  They may be renewed if they are not reserved for another patron.  Items may be renewed by phone if they are not already overdue.  Library materials may be renewed once.

4.    The library reserves the right to limit the number of books, magazines, or other items borrowed at any one time, especially in time of heavy demand (school assignments, holidays, etc.)

5.    DVDs, videocassettes, compact discs, software and museum passes are available for loan.  Please ask a staff member for details about loan periods, etc.

6.    The library does not restrict any materials by age of patron.  It is up to parents to supervise their children’s borrowing habits.

7.   Patrons are expected to return library materials on time, or risk losing their borrowing privileges.  A service fee of $1.00 per item will be assessed for materials four weeks overdue.

8.    Damaged or lost materials must be paid for before more items are checked out.

9.  The library reserves the right to deny borrowing privileges to those patrons who are delinquent at other libraries.

10.  Smoking, eating or drinking are not allowed in the library.  Shirts and shoes are required.

11.  Patrons are expected to be considerate of others using the library, and use library facilities and materials in a responsible manner.  The library’s patron behavior policy provides more detail.  It is available throughout the library.  Patrons who violate the policy may be asked to leave.
